Poem
Been listening to a lot of Oasis recently, and their song ‘Songbird’ inspired this masterpiece of mine. One for the ladies in the audience :
Waiting for her to come and set me free,
strike me with her arrow no more misery,
no more thinking about her and being alone,
not searching which bird to text on my mobile phone,
having someone to sleep with side by side,
knowing theres someone who in i confide,
someone to write these love songs to,
lying on my bed thinking ‘who’,
looking for the songbird they speak of,
wish it’d flap its wings and set me free like a dove,
unclasp the chains on my heart and free my love,
give me direction cos theres none from above,
show me where to go and what to say,
tell me what time and the special day,
show me where to stand and where to sit,
lift me out of this lonely single pit,
give me direction, and give me relief,
give me joy and give me self-belief,
i can only dream of these special things,
waiting for the dove to help me spread my wings,
give me power in my voice and help me decide,
give me self belief and turn the tide,
bring her straight to me and keep her here,
because you can be sure i’ll treat her dear,
theres been too many ifs and could of been’s,
now i know what all this love means….
