Single but Employed

Monday, August 31st, 2009

Well as suspected, my trip to Leamington was a disaster which ended up in me and Fran breaking up. Apparently she needs “time” but i think she was just making an excuse to break up with but try and spare my feelings for some reason. Oh well, 2 years down the drain – so i’m chuffed about that one (not).

On the other hand, i am now actually employed – i managed to secure the job in Reading (well bracknell) and i should be started in the next 3-4 weeks woop. I cant wait to get down there and get cracking with it all; the only pain is i now need to find a house to rent etc. Not fun.

Finally, i’m moving out of Salford for the final time this Saturday – so we are having a massive night at Jillys to commemorate this glorious occasion lol Then im back home in Lowton before heading to Preston for Freshers week to see Joe and hook up with Louise for a few drinks.

Adios!

One week / 8 days on and it seems life is getting slowly worse!
Since not getting that job i have been plugging away applying for jobs to not much avail. Couple this with the great news that my relationship seems to be on the brink of failure, i havent been the happiest bunny.

I went home the weekend just gone to get away from it all, take stock and get some perspective and i have come back to Salford marginally happier. I’m down in Reading this Thursday for a final interview after which i’m going to meet up with the boys etc for a few beers.

After that i’m going to Leamington to see Fran which is probably going to be a not so pleasant day given all that has gone on and been said. Fingers crossed we can work it out but i suspect her mind is already made up on moving on.

My aim for the next 2 weeks is get this job in Reading, move down there, start work and get my life back on track after a disastorous 2009 so far.

Goings on and Employment

Friday, August 14th, 2009

Well, a lot has gone on since i last blogged. It was my birthday, so i got pressies – random things like DVD’s, clothes, an electric shaver (im definitely growing up now!) etc. Went to Liverpool for the day out which was fun, couple of resteraunts for dinner/tea etc and saw James May building a mecano bridge over the Leeds/Liverpool canal which was fun!

The rest of the week has been fairly.. mediocre to say the least. Fran left on Sunday night and since then my world has been a little different!

I found out that on Tuesday the government dept i was so set on joining had turned me down meaning that after 10 months of planning and waiting i was no longer joining them. This was more than a little gutting, so a bit of soul searching was needed!

Since then ive applied to around 50 jobs, and have interviews with a storage company, a large telco provider and a few others based around the South West so it is definitely their loss.

I also resigned from my current post in Manchester in order to move down south to live nearer to Fran etc. So if anybody in the south west needs an engineer with data, server, virtualization, voice and storage experience then give me a shout!

Thats all for now.

Leamington and HAF932

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

Since the last time i blogged, not much has been going on – and this blog is seeming more and more consigned to the history books of “I used to..”.

The main things which have happened are:
1. Graduation + Party
2. Upgrading PC Case + Mods
3. Leamington Spa w/ Fran
4. Others

I went to my graduation on the 15th July with my parents + grand parents in tow, which was fun. The ceremony itself was stuffy and a bit OTT but it was nice and i think its definitely better for the guests. After the ceremony, i had my picture taken a billion times, had a few champers/beers and then generally lazed around the Lowry for a couple of hours!

After the graduation i went back to work for Thursday/Friday then had a big graduation party on Saturday at home with all my family and family friends which was nice, got very drunk on Russian vodka from Russia itself (true!) and had a good time which was a welcome relief from work and whatnot.

Other than graduation, i spent July modding my new Coolermaster HAF 932. I have modded the fillport on the top to house a rocker switch which is used to control the cathode’s (2 x 120mm red cathodes), all the wiring etc is hidden beautifully behind the rig in the oodles of cable management so it looks sweet. I’ve also replaced the big 240mm intake fan on the case side with 4 x 120mm Xilence Red Wing fans running at 900rpm a-piece on a seperate Zalman MFC1 fan controller. This keeps my GFX Card running 15oC cooler than in the Cosmos, and my CPU 10oC cooler. I also clocked my CPU back up to 3.6Ghz for the giggles.

Other PC news, is that i’m building my brother a PC worthy of my name. Cosmos case, Q6700 Proc overclocked, 4GB of 1000Mhz RAM, 9800GT overclocked, Antec TruePower Trio 650Watt PSU, etc etc. Its going to be good, plus im only charging him £400 inc parts, so hes a lucky boy.

Finally, i went to Leamington spa the weekend just gone to visit Fran and help her with her new place etc. I turned out to be the donkey, helping her carry stuff from Ikea, Asda, Tesco, etc but its OK – cos she bought me a birthday dinner on Saturday night (Calzone, mmm)! Its a nice place, looking forward to moving to Cheltenham (hopefully) so i’ll be nearer to her and her to me woop.

Other than that, ive been generally keeping quiet at home with occasional antics with Joe, trafford centre for films and random purchases etc. Going to see Pelham 123 tongiht which should hopefully be good, after Public Enemies = dissappointment last time around.

Anyways, adios!
